The 50 State Rescue Challenge: Oregon Edition

At Cause for Paws, we’re on a mission:

Get a pet adopted in every state.

This week’s spotlight falls on The Beaver State: Oregon and The Oregon Dog Rescue.

The Oregon Dog Rescue is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter located in Tualatin, serving the greater Portland area.

Founded in 2007 by two women with over a decade of rescue experience, their mission is to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters and find them loving forever homes.

The rescue pulls dogs from local shelters, owner surrenders, and high-kill facilities across the region. Their facility can house up to 75 dogs at a time. All rescued dogs receive medical care including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and any necessary treatments before being adopted out.

The dogs spend their days socializing in playrooms with staff and volunteers. The team carefully evaluates each dog to find the best family match and provide post-adoption support to ensure successful placements.

Since its inception, the Oregon Dog Rescue has helped over 16,000 dogs find their forever families through its adoption program. They rely on donations, fostering, and volunteers to support their life-saving efforts.

🐾 Addie 🐾

Addie

Meet Addie, a 6-year-old female Sharpei mix weighing around 65 pounds.

Once a stray in California, Addie is now a distinguished lady who loves to be treated like royalty. She enjoys long naps on the couch, short walks, and being the center of attention.

Addie prefers to be the only animal in the household but would likely enjoy the company of kids over age 5.

With her love for daily walks and a comfy couch to lounge on, Addie is ready to find a home where she can be the queen of her domain. 🐾⛰️

🐾 Lucy 🐾

Lucy

Meet Lucy, a 2-3 year old female Rhodesian mix weighing 45 pounds.

Lucy made a long journey from a rescue in Mexico to find her forever home in the PNW.

She's just beginning to learn about walking on a leash and being pampered by humans.

Lucy is truly enjoying the spoiled life and hopes to find a family who will continue to shower her with love and attention.🐾🐕

🐾 Penelope 🐾

Penelope

My name is Penelope and I am a 9-12 month old Female Mixed Breed who weighs 30 lbs.

I was able to take a long transport here to the PNW all the way from Texas!

The shelters were overfilled and I am so thankful I can have the chance to find my new forever family here.

I have done great with the other dogs here as well as the humans. I am working on my crate training and would love an owner who can show me all the things I need to be the best dog I can be.

I LOVE all the dogs here- I am a total "dog's dog" and ODR will be requiring that I go to a home with at least one other dog in the home.🐾❤️
